Course duration:

Our Working at Heights and Confined Space course is comprised of two components:

  1. Online learning and assessment (to be completed in your own time and before practical training at our facility): 6-8 hours, comprised of:
    • Working at Height theory (3-4 hours)
    • Confined Space Entry theory (3-4 hours)
  2. Hands on practical training and assessment at our facility: 8 hours

IMPORTANT: Students who have not completed both theory components of their training – in full – prior to arrival will be turned away. Our Terms and Conditions will apply.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy

  • At Marine Training Academy, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. We offer flexibility in managing your course enrolment, so you can proceed with confidence.
  • Up to 48 Hours Prior: If you need to cancel due to an emergency or work commitment, your enrolment can be transferred to another date within 12 months. You may also apply for a refund under extenuating circumstances. Please refer to our Student Handbook for full details.
  • Within 48 Hours: Cancellations or transfer requests within 48 hours of the course start date are subject to review and may incur an administration fee. In this period, rescheduling to a future course date may be limited to specific cases, as outlined in our Student Handbook.

Entry Requirements

To enroll in these units, participants must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Participants must be at least 16 years old.
  • Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN): Basic LLN skills are required to understand safety procedures, complete reports, and follow instructions accurately. An LLN assessment may be conducted if needed.
  • A reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary, as these courses involve practical activities that may require bending, climbing, and moving in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Participants must wear suitable PPE, such as work boots, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants. Specific PPE requirements will be provided before training.

Course Delivery

For the Pre-Course Online Learning:

Device Compatibility: Use a device that meets the minimum system requirements for our e-Learning system (modern desktop or laptop computers running Google Chrome are recommended). Other devices, such as phones and tablets, may work but are not officially supported.
Internet Connection: Ensure a stable internet connection.
Audio Capability: Use a device that can play sound.
For the Practical Component:

Course Preparation: Complete the pre-course online learning and assessments before attending the face-to-face training day.
Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 15 years old.
Literacy and Numeracy: A Year 10 level of literacy, numeracy, and communication skills is required, along with the ability to read and write in English.
Transportation and Meals: Provide your own transport and lunch.
Appropriate Clothing: Wear long pants and closed-in shoes for safety
